CSIT 155: Week15 - Wrapping Things Up & Looking Ahead

Hi again Friends and Fellow Bloggers,

This class has been a miracle to my family business, and the amount of information I learned and truly enjoyed was immeasurable. I will certainly be taking all I have experienced from this with me as time goes on, and will be certain to discover new heights in the realm of social media.

The best platforms for my family’s business are Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+, although I know there will be developments in many more in the future. I just need to learn how to schedule and manage my time a little better – like…. through scheduling! HA! We’ll see, though, I know that aspect makes me feel a little distant from the actual social interaction, but it may be the key to sanity.

‘Which have I enjoyed using most?’ must be a rhetorical question, because I loved them all and will use as much of what I have learned as possible. I’m sure my enthusiasm dwindled a bit when it came to creating a business LinkedIn profile, or setting up email marketing (speaking of which, Beau from Constant Contact has been trying to constantly contact my father and I – ha!) Yet, despite my less-excited approach to those two platforms, I was still able to learn a great deal.

I have been, and will continue to use Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis, but will also try to incorporate Pinterest and other forms of social media. My father and I are currently working on a “down-time project” of an animated version of “Sharon’s Cozy Pets” – although there has been little done yet, the concept can develop while the pet warmer is out of season, and perhaps entertain and attract audiences before the time comes for Jack Frost to return again.

I believe Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram and a few others will be less frequently used, despite their popularity, but when I develop a healthy “flow of information” on the primary platforms I have chosen, I will focus more on spreading our reach to wider audiences.

I think my family business should use 100% of their time on social media and online marketing, primarily because it is an online business. Granted, work has to be done, and my dad handles the manufacturing and sales, but in my department of techy-stuff, it is imperative for me to reach as far and wide as possible, and I honestly believe social media and online marketing is the answer to that.
I chose many tools to experiment with, and although I elected to use Facebook and Twitter the most, it is simply because I am the most familiar with them. I am certain I will add in others to a daily-level when I can get a grasp on how to juggle it all.

In the next month I will utilize as many platforms of social media as possible, but I’m afraid to say it won’t be a very graceful procedure. HA! I will continue my methods of handling Facebook and Twitter once or twice a day, but hope to schedule posts throughout the week and just “check up” on them once or twice a day. The same goes for the other social media platforms, as I learn to increase their presence in my daily routine.

Thank you for… well, all of this.
It means more than you know.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers!

CSIT 155: Week14B - Optimizing Yourself and the Company

Hi again Friends and Fellow Bloggers,

Again, a quick reminder of my STUFF:

Believe it or not, I actually researched all of the active students in my class (and the sister Social Media class currently offered at Mira Costa) and “liked” and “followed” everyone. For the students I discovered had no interest in this course, were not actively engaged in these platforms, or didn’t reciprocate the favor, after one month (four weeks) I “unfollowed” them - because if they didn't care about their success, I didn't either.

I figured, if they were students interested in learning, or the analytics of this course, they would have posted something in four weeks. But I digress, I guess a part of me feels  a little guilty, hence the unnecessary explanation.

I don’t pretend to know what someone might be experiencing in their life, or for the duration of this course, but I do know that the wait list for this class was long, and until someone dropped, I was on it. I’m sure there are plenty of folks that could have benefited from this class that also sat on that wait list… and in my case, if I did not attend exactly when I did, the phenomenal results I received from this class wouldn’t have been so amazing.

As you all may know, the product my family markets is seasonal, and only provides results of this type at one time of the year…. this time. Had I taken this class in the summer, I would have not received such a detailed and helpful experience with the content.

With that said, on to the Facebook Business Admin panel data:

CSIT 155: Week14A - Optimizing Yourself and the Company

Hi again Friends and Fellow Bloggers,

Again, a quick reminder of my STUFF:

Although I am still not 100% on how to read all the data provided by Google Analytics, I am totally grateful that this class happened to fall during an active cycle of our seasonal product. Despite being able to create a page for…well ,whatever product or service…. And then following its progress with analytics, I can see the incredible changes from one point in the year to the next. If this class were taken in the summertime, I may not have been able to have such a clear understanding of what was happening. I really hope everyone can benefit as I have for this class, and I’m sad to think that it’s just not always possible. Here's a bit of info, through this cycle (to date):

Anyway, here’s an example of this miraculous change. This screenshot was of just last month, when I first installed Google Analytics on our website – which I totally wish I did at the very start of the course, to get a better idea of what this class has done, but the numbers don’t lie. It’s obvious of the drastic change through my campaigns and the audience response. The date of this search is Nov 1 – Dec 1:

This screen shot is current from the beginning of December, and even in a couple short weeks the results are phenomenal. Through my education in this class, and the change of the season to cold in many parts of the world, the changes in audience interaction are amazing. Here’s a screenshot of just December (to date):

I know as I monitor this I will continue to be impressed as the cold season continues, and then, around February, will start to see a drop in customer interest and/or sales – ultimately leading to the stagnant audience appeal in March, when the season and cycle of pet warmer interest is complete.
