CSIT 155: Week7A - Get Visual

Good evening Friends and fellow Bloggers,

I was certainly at a standstill this week, simply because there was such a wealth of information to be modified and maintained. I always felt, when running an online business, despite how much multitasking one was capable of, there was always a need for “extra hands”, and this weeks’ discussion refers to exactly that.  Developing and marketing an online business is certainly a full-time job, and when adding so many other components to maintain (such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, SnapChat, Pinterest, and so on…) the time spent maintaining these can leave a lot of projects unfinished, and that is exactly what I want to avoid to have good relationships with my online audiences.

With that said, Visual Networks, are they right for me and my brand? Absolutely, but to a certain extent. Because my particular product has many limitations (ie. It is seasonal; it applies only to the specific audience of pet owner/advocate, and so on) I must find other outlets to engage my audiences with a variety of media, but the trick is: I need content. I can’t just put garbage out there and spend years learning how not to post garbage if I want to keep the audiences I’ve worked so hard for, therefore, I must find a new angle that will satisfy all these needs, and explore new levels of creativity.

There are many visual platforms I could potentially use in my business, nearly all but Instagram, Tumblr and Snapchat am I already working with (some more than others), but the catch is how to weave these platforms together, to make my life as a social media marketer, simpler. I can see how each of the primary 8 platforms would be beneficial, but where do I find the time? The primary concern I have is: I will attempt to utilize too many platforms at once, without expertly learning one, and only half-heartedly experimenting with all, ultimately leading to business suicide.

I feel, for now, the platforms best suited for my businesses (and my level of experience) are Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, where I can exercise my creativity in addressing the already-developed audiences my family business has.

Here’s a link to the new YouTube business channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4p5BDwLflj2fl7ehUclz5A

I’m awaiting approval for a custom name, and will provide that update as soon as I get it.

Otherwise, there’s nothing there, but I’m working on it, and will ultimately transfer all the videos over from the current business account (KelsoStockwood) with the confusing name.

Here is the painfully underdeveloped Pinterest link: https://www.pinterest.com/sharonscozypets/

And the new Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/sharonscozypets/

And, finally, the new tumblr for the business: sharonscozypets.tumblr.com

Which I found to be a little ironic, as I have used this particular site as long as I can remember, but never considered it a place to put my family business. I imagine there are ways around everything, and new avenues to explore, which is exactly why I needed influence “outside the box”.

Thanks for reading, and we’ll chat again soon.

Cheers!

JennL.
